Some great news for our school this week as we have been notified of our ‘gold’ level award (highest level) in the Sport Scotland national school sport programme. This award is granted for 2023-2025.

We have been busy gathering evidence and creating our action plan submission to the national agency for sport and their tiered award program which recognises a variety of aspects from PE curricular input, extra-curricular programmes, volunteer development, right through to our community sport link.

‘The School Sport Award ‘ is funded by the National Lottery, and is a national initiative designed to encourage schools to put our young people at the heart of decision making, planning and implementation of our extra-curricular school sport. The award also encourages sporting links between schools and the community on Arran, providing opportunities for young people to progress where possible.

Education Maintenance Allowance

Online applications for session 2020/2021 are now open and young people will be able to apply by visiting www.north-ayrshire.gov.uk/EMA.

For your information, for the forthcoming session, young people whose dates of birth fall between 1 March 2001 and 28 February 2005 will be eligible to apply for an EMA award.

Due to the current pandemic, we have been unable to arrange the usual letter and leaflet for distribution to age eligible young people via schools.

Applications for Clothing Grants/Free School Meals have gone live. Please be aware that payment will not be sanctioned if you do not have a correct address registered with the school. If you have moved house within the last year you should check the school holds the correct address. Active Schools are now accepting applications from new S5/6 pupils for North Ayrshire Sports Academy 20/21. NASA is a year long leadership, sports coach education and personal development programme that will boost your CV and give you invaluable voluntary experience.

Farewell Wishes to Mr Smith

On Friday 29th May we said goodbye to our Head Teacher, Mr Barry Smith, who leaves us to take up a new post in Dumfries and Galloway. We wish him and his family all the best.
Mrs Susan Foster will be taking on the role of Acting Head Teacher.

We had a great end to Children’s Mental Health Week. Friday was Compliment Day. Staff and students focused on the strengths and positives of others. What a powerful way to support the mental health of people around you. We also had Tea & Talk sessions.
